Mrs. Martinez-Mejia currently serves as Coordinator of Community Health Services for the City of Trenton’s Department of Health and Human Services where she is heavily involved in the day-to-day operations of the department and helps oversee various programs and initiatives. She represents the Department at various coalitions, stakeholder meetings. Prior to joining the City of Trenton, she served as Community Recovery Director for the American Red Cross’s Superstorm Sandy Long Term Recovery Team where she led a team of 7 specialists tasked with assisting Sandy stricken communities recover from this natural disaster in conjunction with other partner organizations and stakeholders.
Mrs. Martinez-Mejia has extensive experience in government, serving in various capacities including Acting Director of Appointments for the New Jersey’s Office of the Governor under 3 different Governors, Director of Community Relations and Constituency Services for the New Jersey Department of Health, and Director of Constituent Relations for the New Jersey Office of the Secretary of State. During her tenure in state government, she had the opportunity to work closely with many statewide stakeholders and diverse constituencies.
In addition to her career in public service, she serves as a board member and officer of the LUPE Fund, Inc. since 2014. LUPE’s mission is to educate, empower and engage Latinas to promote leadership and civic engagement. Mrs. Martinez-Mejia has volunteered her time at America Needs You where she served as a Mentor Coach. The program fights for economic mobility for ambitious, low-income, first generation college students. They do this by providing intensive career development, mentorship, and professional networks to enable students to realize their academic and career aspirations.
Mrs. Andrea Martinez-Mejia earned her B.A. in Political Science from Rutgers University. She graduated from Seton Hall University with a Master’s degree in Public Administration and a Master’s degree in Diplomacy and International Relations in 2008. She is a native of Ecuador and currently resides with her husband and son in Trenton, NJ.
